Rain, Rain, Go Away: How Weather Affects Our Mood (and Our Markets!)

Let’s face it – living in the UK means we’ve all become part-time meteorologists. We obsessively refresh our weather apps, eye suspicious clouds, and say “bit chilly, isn’t it?” at least twice a day. And sometimes, no matter how much planning we do, the weather just doesn’t play ball. Like this weekend, when the market we were looking forward to was sadly cancelled due to the good ol’ British rain!

We know how disappointing it is - we were just as excited to chat you, show off our latest home fragrance creations and fill the air (and your bags) with scent. But while the drizzle might have dampened the pavement, it hasn't dampened our spirts.

So why does the weather have such a big impact on us?

Besides soaking our socks and frizzing our hair, weather can genuinely affect how we feel. Sunny days tend to boost our mood, while grey skies can leave us feeling sluggish or unmotivated. It’s called “weather sensitivity” — and it’s a real thing!

That’s one of the reasons we’re so passionate about what we do. When it’s grey outside, lighting a candle like Black Plum & Rhubarb or filling your space with the warm notes of Cigar Lounge can completely transform your environment and your mood. It’s like sunshine in a jar (without the sunburn).

So, while we’re gutted we didn’t get to see you this time, our online store is always open — no umbrella required. Why not treat yourself to something comforting, cosy, and fragrant to brighten up your home, whatever the weather’s doing?

And keep your fingers crossed for clear skies next time — we’ll bring the candles, you bring the chat.
